The club is actively demonstrating that serving others can be both fulfilling and fun. The NE Metro club also recently signed on to Minnesota’s “Adopt-a-Highway” program and is cleaning up a stretch of Highway 36 in Maplewood twice a year. So far, members of the club have provided service to Feed My Starving Children, Every Meal, Kids in Need Foundation, Second Harvest, Bridging of Roseville, Hearts & Hammers, and several other area nonprofits. on the first Thursday of each month and then get together at least one additional time during the month to accomplish a service project. The Northeast Metro club’s stated mission is to provide the “many benefits of Rotary membership in an inclusive, friendly, casual, affordable format”. Membership includes younger career professionals and recently retired folks. Two of its founding members are from the western edge of Wisconsin. The satellite idea came about as an alternative to overcome these obstacles.” The club currently includes members from Lino Lakes in the north metro to South St. Greg Bartz, longtime member of the Rotary Club of White Bear Lake who was critical in the Northeast Metro club’s founding, expresses the history and mission of the club this way, “Over the years I’ve come across potential Rotarians that our Rotary Club (the White Bear Lake club) couldn’t accommodate, due to meeting schedule conflicts and cost. Although the original focus of the Northeast Metro club was to serve the diverse community in the northeastern corner of the Twin Cities metro area, the club is not bound by geography.

The Satellite Club of White Bear Lake-Northeast Metro is a club within the Rotary Club of White Bear Lake. Tuesday, OctoNovember 2023 marks the 18-month anniversary of one of District 5960’s most unique clubs.
